And it’s 3… 2… 1… liftoff to this week in 5G! 5G developments this week are out of this world as providers launch 5G-related services- let’s take a closer look.

Sprint completed the first 5G data call across 2.5GHz commercial network spectrum in a partnership with Nokia and Qualcomm. The call marks another milestone reached in the pursuit of Sprint’s 5G launch in the first half of 2019.

T-Mobile confirmed that they launched 5G equipment in 30 cities including New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Dallas in 2018.

Vodafone and IBM announced a deal to bring the benefits of wireless connectivity to cloud computing,  paving the way for complex business networks to take advantage of 5G-enabled artificial intelligence applications.

Sprint installed Massive MIMO equipment on towers in Atlanta in preparation for the Super Bowl. The radios will be easily transitioned to 5G use through a software update.

That’s one small step for man, one giant step for 5G. See you next week!
