This Week in 5G: 5G Gets to Work .
5G industrial use cases and 5G service start dates were big news this week. Let’s dive into the latest.
Verizon announced that it will turn on 5G mobile networks in Chicago and Minneapolis on April 11th. Customers can use their Moto Z3 devices with the 5G Moto Mod adaptor to tap into the new network using unlimited data plans.
Sprint opened a 5G center at its headquarters in Overland Park that shows visitors 5G’s power and potential through interactive exhibits, including VR and AR displays.
New Zealand wireless provider Spark began testing the first 5G-enabled autonomous vehicle in the country. The car can carry up to four passengers on a programmed loop and is hailed using a tablet.
Ericsson, Volvo Construction Equipment and Telia are operating Sweden’s first 5G network for industrial use. The network is being used to test remote control of construction machinery, as well as fully automated solutions.
