Statement on Assembly Floor Passage of Net Neutrality Legislation .
SACRAMENTO – The California Cable and Telecommunications Association (CCTA) and CTIA put out the following statement today, following the California State Assembly approval of Net Neutrality legislation SB 822 (Wiener):
“We remain strongly opposed to SB 822 and SB 460. We are committed to protecting consumers online and to preserving the open Internet. However, this legislation includes extreme provisions rejected by the Obama FCC in 2015 and could threaten the innovation and investment that are the backbone of California’s economy. What the country needs is permanent bipartisan federal legislation that will benefit consumers and ensure consistent rules of the road for all companies and across all websites.”
