The U.S. is far behind in freeing up licensed mid-band spectrum* for 5G, according to a new report from Analysys Mason. Closing the gap is critical to leading the emerging 5G Economy. We need a roadmap to effectively double the amount of mid-band spectrum with the 3.1-3.55 GHz and 6 GHz bands the two clear opportunities.

Key Findings

On average, other countries will have 5X more licensed mid-band than the U.S. by end of year.

By end of 2022, 5 countries will have nearly 2X the amount of mid-band as the U.S.

We need a roadmap to effectively double the amount of mid-band spectrum set for auction this year, and the 3.1-3.55 GHz and 6 GHz bands are the two clear opportunities to support America’s 5G economy.
