Giving Thanks in 2019 .
The wireless industry has a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. Let’s take a look at some of the wireless highlights of the past year—and pass the cranberry sauce, please!
An efficient and robust wireless industry. The wireless industry continues to amaze with its innovation, investment, and commitment to responding to customer demand. Wireless providers have increased spectrum efficiency 42-fold since 2010, all while supporting 82 percent year-over-year growth in the amount of mobile data moving on our networks.
The first 5G deployments. The industry is also launching revolutionary 5G networks—we’re so proud to see 5G service in over 30 cities spurring the innovation and investment that will power the 5G economy.
5G spectrum. Thanks to the leadership of the Commissioners and FCC staff, 2019 brought us the first-ever high-band spectrum auctions and the first time three auctions will be held in one year.
State governments’ 5G leadership. Eight new small cell laws were passed, which streamline the installation of 5G small cell infrastructure, bringing the total number of states and territories that have paved the way for 5G to 29.
Efforts on Capitol Hill to support 5G and protect consumers. We appreciate the tireless work of leaders in Congress to support wireless industry efforts to build robust next-gen networks, including bills to help us combat illegal robocalls.
Exploring the future of 5G.CTIA engaged with wireless and community leaders across the country in Houston, Denver, Minneapolis and Indianapolis to discuss how 5G will transform communities, jobs, and the economy.
Health & wellness innovation. We’re thankful for the entrepreneurs that are developing tomorrow’s wireless innovations—this year, CTIA Wireless Foundation launched Catalyst, a new grant program aimed at supporting social entrepreneurs solving healthcare challenges.
Our dynamic members. CTIA membership is made up of fantastic companies from across the wireless ecosystem who are committed to our shared connected future. We added 43 new members to the association this year. We’re so glad you’re here!
Our Board of Directors and Chairman Ken Meyers. CTIA is so grateful for a great year under the leadership of our dynamic board and new chairman.
Our top-notch staff and leadership. CTIA’s wonderful, dedicated staff and leadership were recognized this year by the Washington Post with a Top DC Area Workplace Award, and our CEO Meredith Atwell Baker was featured in Washingtonian’s Tech Titans and Washington Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business.
Thank you CTIA community! We hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
