WASHINGTON D.C.– The following statement is for attribution to CTIA® Senior Vice President for Regulatory Affairs Scott Bergmann.

“We applaud today’s introduction of the Contraband Cell Phone Act. Court orders are proven to be effective in combating contraband devices in prisons while providing the necessary safeguards to protect lawful users of wireless service. We continue to work with the South Carolina Department of Corrections through the contraband phone task force and the Association of State Correctional Administrators, to address this important issue.”
