Giving Thanks in 2020 .
As we wrap up a challenging and unusual year, the wireless industry has a lot to be thankful for this season. We compiled a few of the things we’re most thankful for, as we take some time to reflect and refresh this holiday season.
Essential workers across the country. We’re thankful for all the essential workers across our industry who worked long hard hours to keep Americans connected during this pandemic. Thank you for all you do for our industry, and for all you are doing to make sure kids can keep learning, millions of people can work from home, patients and doctors can connect about care, and consumers can stay connected to their loved ones.
Nationwide networks to underpin the 5G economy. We’re thankful for the launch of three nationwide 5G networks, as well as regional 5G networks in communities across the country. These networks will be the platform on which our 5G economy is built, supporting transformational innovations across industries.
More mid-band spectrum. We’re thankful for the strides we have made towards freeing up more mid-band spectrum, which is crucial for unlocking the full potential of 5G. We had a successful 3.5 GHz auction this summer and are excited for December’s C-band auction. We are also thankful for plans to make the 3.45–3.55 GHz band available by the end of 2021.
The latest innovations in health and wellness. We’re so thankful to be able to celebrate and accelerate the work of innovators who are tackling pressing health and wellness challenges. We’re proud of CTIA Wireless Foundation’s Catalyst 2020 Winners—Objective Zero, MindRight, and Pilleve—and the amazing work they are doing to increase access to personalized care and strengthen human connection.
Our dynamic members. CTIA membership is made up of fantastic companies from across the wireless ecosystem who are committed to our shared connected future. We added 39 new members to the association this year. We’re so glad you’re here!
Our Board of Directors and new Chairman and Vice Chairman. CTIA is so grateful for a great year under the leadership of our dynamic board and new chairman David Christopher, Executive Vice President and General Manager – AT&T Mobility, and Vice Chairman Slayton Stewart, CEO of Carolina West Wireless.
Our wonderful employees and leadership. CTIA’s wonderful, dedicated staff and leadership were recognized for the second year in a row by the Washington Post with a Top DC Area Workplace Award. We’re thankful for everyone who works so hard to contribute to this exciting industry every day.
Thank you CTIA community! We hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday season.
