5G Summit: Policy Track

Tuesday, October 27
1:30 PM – 3:30 PM ET

Spectrum: 2020 Policy Update
2020 has been the year of mid-band spectrum for industry and policymakers alike, between the CBRS auction, scheduled C-Band auction, and Administration and Commission progress in freeing up more spectrum in the lower 3 GHz band.  This panel will feature a discussion of getting mid-band to market, the importance of a mix of low- and high-band airwaves alike, and what that will mean for American consumers.

Congressional Perspective: What’s Ahead for Wireless in Washington
The U.S. Congress plays a vital role in many of today’s key wireless issues, including spectrum, infrastructure, privacy, and other major policy discussions.  In this wide-ranging discussion, senior Congressional staff from the Senate and House will discuss important legislative efforts that would impact the wireless industry.

Cybersecurity and 5G: Working Together to Secure the Future
As the national wireless providers continue 5G deployments and the nation begins to see the many benefits that 5G will offer, security continues to be top of mind. The wireless industry has a long track record of innovating in ways to protect networks from cyber threats, and 5G will be the most secure network to date.  In this wide-ranging discussion, key stakeholders from government and industry will discuss the most important issues around the security of 5G networks and the importance of public-private partnerships.

Tuesday, October 28
1:30 PM – 3:30 PM ET

Washington Talks Wireless: The Insiders’ Perspective – Part One
Policymakers at the FCC have confronted unprecedented challenges in 2020 as they seek to facilitate the deployment of 5G services while also developing policy solutions to address the impact of COVID-19.  This panel will offer insights from the wireless experts who advise FCC leadership on spectrum policy, infrastructure siting, and network resiliency.  These policy leaders bring unique insight into the efforts to bring more mid-band spectrum to market, even as they develop new policies to ensure that consumers remain connected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19: Wireless Keeps Americans Connected
COVID-19 prompted sudden and significant changes in how we live, work, and educate. Through it all, America’s wireless networks rose to the occasion, capably handling unprecedented surges in mobile voice and data traffic, facilitated by a national policy that favors investment, innovation and competition. This panel brings together thought leaders across the wireless industry to discuss how the response to COVID-19 demonstrated consumer reliance on wireless, ushered in a new era of telehealth, distance learning and mobile workforces and can lead to policies that enhance consumer access to mobile wireless services.

Roaring Into the 20s: Wireless Policy to Maintain U.S. Leadership
The U.S. remains a global leader on mobile wireless with forward-thinking policies that enable the industry to enhance existing capabilities for consumers and create new opportunities throughout our economy.   This panel brings together thought leaders across the wireless industry to discuss an evolving wireless market with an eye towards how the 2020 election season will impact the future regulatory environment.

Tuesday, October 29
1:30 PM – 3:30 PM ET

Spectrum: Filling the Pipeline
As the wireless industry looks to the future, refilling the spectrum pipeline will be important to meet the ever-growing demand for wireless services.  Panelists will discuss emerging technologies, global spectrum developments, and particular spectrum bands on the horizon to meet future consumer needs.

Washington Talks Wireless: The Insiders’ Perspective – Part Two
Policymakers at the FCC have confronted unprecedented challenges in 2020 as they seek to facilitate the deployment of 5G services while also developing policy solutions to address the impact of COVID-19.

5G Ready: Advancing U.S. Wireless Infrastructure Policy Through State and Local Leadership
For the past four years, states and localities have been proactively enacting regulatory policy to attract new 5G investment and enable future economic growth. Join CTIA for in-depth discussions with state, local and industry leaders to hear about the importance of working collaboratively to implement these 5G policies, and the exciting 5G applications being deployed in their communities today as a result of their efforts.
