Multi-Industry Letter to House and Senate Leadership on Bonus Depreciation

On behalf of the member companies we represent, the undersigned associations urge you to renew bonus depreciation for 2014. The U.S. economy continues to underperform relative to its potential at great cost to workers, businesses, and taxpayers. Renewing bonus depreciation and the comparable Alternative Minimum Tax credit in lieu of bonus depreciation for 2014 will provide an immediate incentive for businesses to make additional capital investments, thereby boosting the U.S. economy and job creation.

CTIA Letter in Opposition to Oklahoma Senate Bill 1445, Regarding a 911 Wireless Fee Increase

On behalf of CTIA – The Wireless Association®, the trade association for the wireless communications industry, I write in opposition to Senate Bill 1445. As you know, a floor substitute for SB 1445 passed the Senate on March 11 and is now pending in your Committee. The legislation would allow local governments, with voter approval, to raise 911 fees on wireless consumers from the current $.50 per month to as high as $2.25 per month. CTIA has serious concerns about SB 1445 in its current form and respectfully requests that the Committee not advance the bill.

CTIA Comments to OSTP on Federal Spectrum

CTIA – The Wireless Association® (“CTIA”) submits this letter in response to the Notice of Request for Information (“NRI”) issued by the Office of Science and Technology Policy (“OSTP”) on the Science and Technology Policy Institute (“STPI”) report identifying approaches to providing incentives to federal agencies to share or relinquish spectrum. CTIA applauds OSTP’s steps to implement the President’s June 2013 memorandum, which recognizes the need to make more spectrum available for commercial broadband systems. OSTP and other stakeholders must not let these first steps also be the last. Congress, the Office of Management and Budget (“OMB”), the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (“NTIA”), and others should adopt affirmative measures that will enable federal agencies to take advantage of incentives to free up the additional spectrum that will continue to drive the growth of the wireless industry and our Nation’s economy.
