
WASHINGTON, D.C. - International CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2009® today announced that Qualcomm’s co-founder Dr. Irwin Jacobs and Chairman and CEO Dr. Paul Jacobs will deliver a joint keynote on Thursday, October 8 at 9:30 a.m. addressing the many ways in which the mobile Internet is bridging the digital and physical worlds. International CTIA WIRELESS IT & E takes place October 7-9 at the San Diego Convention Center.
This unique, father-son keynote will examine how, as our personal digital footprint expands, advanced and innovative mobile wireless networks, services, devices and applications are creating a world organized around the user experience.

About Dr. Paul E. Jacobs
Dr. Paul E. Jacobs is CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated and chairman of the board of directors and has been the primary driver of the company’s focus on enabling wireless data services. Dr. Jacobs joined the company fulltime in 1990 as a development engineer leading the cell phone digital signal processor software team. In 1995, he became vice president and general manager of the combined handset and integrated circuit division, which was subsequently divided into Qualcomm Consumer Products (QCP) and Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, respectively. He was named senior vice president in 1996 and president of QCP in 1997; he was named executive vice president of Qualcomm in 2000 and group president of Qualcomm Wireless & Internet (QWI) in 2001.
About Dr. Irwin Mark Jacobs
Dr. Irwin Mark Jacobs is co-founder of Qualcomm Incorporated and served as CEO until July 2005 and chairman of the board of directors until March 2009. He led the commercialization of CDMA technology and holds several CDMA patents, contributing to Qualcomm's extensive portfolio of issued U.S. and foreign patent and pending applications. Dr. Jacobs previously served as co-founder, president, CEO and chairman of LINKABIT Corporation. Additionally, Dr. Jacobs was an assistant/associate professor of electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and served as a professor of computer science and engineering at the University of California, San Diego.
