Seminar and Show Floor Pavilion to Highlight M2M Applications
Washington, D.C. August 21, 2008 – At this fall’s CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2008® tradeshow and conference, more than 20 companies will showcase their machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions in the M2M Zone. M2M applications include fleet management and B2C applications like wireless remote control, GPS, home control and other innovative services that open up new data revenue streams. CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment takes place September 10-12, at Moscone West in San Francisco.
On Thursday, September 11, 2008, the M2M Zone will feature a full-day interactive seminar co-sponsored by Telecommunications Magazine entitled, “M2M: Walled Garden or Open Range?” The sessions will feature insights from service providers, application developers and leading vertical industry users of M2M technology.
“Wireless M2M technologies are no longer the stuff of science fiction or lab experiments,” said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA. “From service providers to large enterprise organizations, the benefits of this new mobile internet model are paying off across the industry. We are pleased to be highlighting these exciting developments in San Francisco this fall.”

Within five years, according to some estimates, more than 50% of connection points to the Internet will originate from devices other than a traditional PC. The M2M Zone, located on the CTIA show floor, will showcase the new applications enabled by this development, including:
