The FCC has established rules for the upcoming 700 MHz auction to establish an interoperable national wireless broadband network which public safety will share with a private partner. Several questions remain about how the proposed model will actually work in practice, and Brian Josef, Director, Regulatory Affairs, for CTIA-The Wireless Association®, moderated a panel at CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2007® on the public safety-private partnership.
More than 230,000 wireless phone calls are placed to 911 each day. These calls exemplify the importance of putting safety first, as well as the crucial role wireless technology can play during emergency situations.
